The Title of Marquisate Testaferrata,  is one of the formations along with the Marquisate  di San Vincenzo Ferreri, Cassar-Desain , Testaferrata-Olivier, which were created in 1717 to Mario Testaferrata de Robertis at Chambray by Victor Amadeus, King of Sicily, and Duca di Savoy. The remainder was to all his legitimate and natural descendants. (see Testaferrata  and San Vincenzo Ferreri History)

This title was concurrent with the Marquisate di San Vincenzo Ferreri title, untill 1988, when the Marquisate di San Vincenzo Ferreri, was succeeded by the 8^th Marquis’s niece, Agnes.

The Marquisate Testaferrata was succeeded by a cousin and next male , Joseph Phillip suceeded as the 9^th Marquis and was recognised by the Consiglio Araldico Nazionale del Corpo della Nobilita Italiana on the year of 1990.
