The Barony of Ortigos in Villafranca del Pandes in Spain was created and granted to Antonio Inguanez by King Alfonso I of Sicily, V of Sicily

The Barony of Chemisia e Zabbaria were fiefs granted to Antonio Ingunez, the family of very powerful Noble's in Malta, who invited by the Aragon’s to Sicily and Malta. Appointed ‘Capitano della Verga’ in 1427, and later Chief Justice of Malta. 

The Position of ‘Capitano della Verga’ became almost hereditary to the Inguanez family until the late 19th Century. These titles were used by Antonio’s descendants, right up to the 16th Century, and then became dormant. 

A descendant of Barone Antonio Inguanez, Joseph Dingli Attard, claimed through the Government of Spain the following titles “. The Baronies di Ortigos , Hemsija e Zabbaria” on the year of 1981, and later died the year 1990, succeeded by his son, the late Dr Marcel.V. Dingli-Attard dei Baroni Inguanez Ph.D. 

Dr Marcel,  first married to Monica Katherine Drummond, the Grand-daughter of the English Viscount Strathallan, and niece of the 16th Earl of Perth. Monica died without issue , Dr Marcel married a second time to Mary Ann Bohnert-Kohake B.S.c, and had two daughters.

Marcel passed away in 1998, and the title is presently dormant awaiting succession by his daughter, Caroline Imperia Dingli-Attard (see note below). Caroline and Alexia Attard Dingli daughters of the late Dr.Marcel.

The barony of Ortigos is not vacant any more; it is now held by Caroline-Imperia Dingli Attard Inguanez, Baroness of Ortigos.
