Title: Count
Gauci was born at the Mtarfa Military Hospital 1947 and pursued his studies at Aloysius College, where in 1963 he obtained the British Council prize for distinction in English. He later attended the Royal University of Malta from where he graduated Doctor of Medicine in 1971. He also holds the FRCA (1975) from the Royal College of Anaesthetists. Gauci also served as honorary (overseas) secretary of the Committee of Priveges of the Maltese Nobility (1982-93) and in (1994) he was nominated the Secretary of the Assocation of Foreign Title-Holders (Malta) Gauci is the author of publications on medical topics, heraldry, genealogy, and the nobility, including "The Genealogy & Heraldry of the Noble Families of Malta Vol.1 (1981), Vol II (1992); The Palaeologos Family- A Genealogical review (with P.Mallett, 1985); A Guide to the Maltese Nobility (1986); A key to the Maltese Coats of Arms (1988); and an Illustrated Collection of the Coats of Arms of Maltese Families (1989).
