Calaforno e Tummarello

Title: Baron The Barony di Calaforno e Tummarello was a fief bought by Dr. Mario Pietro Gaspare Cafici JUD, in Sicily in 1770, and was recognised by King Charles IV of Sicily, Charles III of Spain. Dr. Mario Pietro Gaspare Cafici JUD was also a Signor di Passaneto in Sicily, and a Governor of Vizzini (r 1790-91 and 1802-03). Dr Mario Pietro Gaspare Cafici JUD married to Maria Astuto di Licodia Eubea dei Duchi di Lucchese and sired several children.The
elder son inherited the titles until extinction in the mid 1800’s The Maltese Branch came about when a member of the Giappone-Testaferrata family married Lorenzo Cafici, and inherited Baron di Calaforno e Tummarello - Signor di Passaneto. The Gaetano Giappone married to Margherita Testaferrata Viani, daughter of the Baron di Tabria, and had a son and a daughter. The daughter , Anna Maria, married the Baron di Calaforno e Tummarello, and their daughter married Anna Maria’s brother - Dr Giocchino Giappone Testaferrata. Since 1927, the last holder of the Barony di Calaforno e Tummarello and Lordship di Passaneto was recognised by the Sicilian Government to Maria Cafici, who died without issue, and due to the laws which changed limiting female succession only to male descendants. The Great, Great Great, Grand nephew of the last holder, Dr Anthony Rutter-Giappone LL.D, reclaimed the title of Baron di Calaforno e Tummarello, and is married to Ann Pullicino and has two daughters. Dr Anthony’s father was a Judge in the Maltese Courts, passed away in 1983. Anthony Rutter Giappone
